Kids will love: Storm Chasers! On the Trail of Twisters!
After my trip back from storm chasing two weeks ago in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, my 8 year old daughter and 5 year old son have been very eager to hear more about my experiences and to learn why I would actually participate in storm chasing.
Living here in Minnesota presents its own set of weather situations and over the course of several years, a few experiences in the region have elevated the anxiety and fear of storms in general for them.
Usually I try to reassure them when a storm is active around us with sound educational assurance that they are fine and these events happen all over the world. One thing that I have learned, especially with my daughter, is that nothing beats having her read an interesting science book, especially if it is written with a kid emphasis. The connection is invaluable.
Therefore, I was happy to hear that John Davies has written a book entitled Storm Chasers! On the Trail of Twisters. I have already placed my order and could not have been more thrilled!
Jon Davies is a private meteorologist now living in the Kansas City area, where he recently moved from Wichita, Kansas. He focuses on practical operational research concerning severe weather and tornado forecasting. Jon has published several papers in professional meteorological publications. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1980, and has worked as a broadcast meteorologist and forecaster for several television stations and private weather consulting firms. He also worked at the Weather Channel in the 1980’s.
Jon’s interest in severe weather began while he was growing up in Pratt, Kansas, where he witnessed his first tornado at age 9. He continues to enjoy storm chasing and storm spotting as a serious hobby and educational activity.
You can visit Jon’s website or his blog to see his weather-related photos, case studies and papers about severe weather!

That is truly an adventure!I hope you would post even link of the pictures you captured in your storm chasing!
